Brentwood, Tenn.–based Pison Stream Solutions has opened a new manufacturing and research facility in Brecksville, according to a news release from Team NEO.
The research and development company offers products and services in a variety of sectors, from chemical coatings to defense to renewable energy, the release stated. The new location in Brecksville, which opened Sept. 1, is expected to employ 150 people in three years. The annual payroll is expected to be $8.5 million.
CEO and president Joseph James said the building at 6101 W. Snowville Road has about 45,000 square feet for the company’s manufacturing and research and development needs. The building used to be a chemical plant for AkzoNobel, he said, making it a “turnkey operation” for Pison, though they did do some renovations. James said the company is leasing the facility but declined to share financial details.
James said the region’s talent pool and expertise in polymers was also a draw, specifically citing the proximity to the University of Akron.
The company only develops niche chemical composites, James said. Previously, it would develop products and sell them to interested companies. Then, it wanted to begin manufacturing its own products, using private manufacturers around the country. This expansion in Brecksville allows the company to bring that in-house. In the release, James said the location will be known as the company’s “Centre of Expertise, Research Development and Manufacturing.”
The company will remain headquartered in Tennessee and still has satellite locations across the U.S., James said.
The release highlighted the role of JobsOhio, Team NEO, the Greater Cleveland Partnership and the city of Brecksville in making this deal happen.
